It's best not to be too moral. You cheat yourself out of too much *life*. Aim above morality. If you apply that to life, then you're bound to live life fully.

Build your own morality and live according to what YOU think is right. That's why we are having trouble in our society - we want a one-size-fits-all legislated morality.

Tue, November 1, 2005 - 1:16 PMI dunno...I think the way to interpret Maude's statement is to aim above "conventional morality"--what was in play at the time the movie was written. Basically meaning, don't refuse to do things because your church told you they're wrong.

"Aim above morality" is just Maude's poetic way of saying "Build your own morality..." etc.
