It's best not to be too moral. You cheat yourself out of too much *life*. Aim above morality. If you apply that to life, then you're bound to live life fully.

    I disagree totally.

    Build your own morality and live according to what YOU think is right. That's why we are having trouble in our society - we want a one-size-fits-all legislated morality.

    I think that's what Maude did.

      I dunno...I think the way to interpret Maude's statement is to aim above "conventional morality"--what was in play at the time the movie was written. Basically meaning, don't refuse to do things because your church told you they're wrong.

      Actually, I think you both agree.

      "Aim above morality" is just Maude's poetic way of saying "Build your own morality..." etc.
