In the scene where Harold and Maude are at the amusement park and playing with the model train, in the first scene the guy with the long beard is director Hal Ashby (who has mysteriously disappeared in the next scene with the model trains. (Thanks to Steve Coleman and Gayle.
I always knew that beard-y guy had to either be the writer or the director. I've said that every time I watched the movie, since about the second time I saw it.. (1989?) finally vindicated! :) geek and proud..

Tue, February 24, 2004 - 9:38 PMYes, that's indeed Ashby. I need to look at the movie again to see if it's correct but I read on on of the sites that Cat Stevens akes a cameo as well! he's supposedly sitting by (maybe behind?) Gordon in the church where Maude is trying to catch Harold's attention. Never heard of it before nor do I remember seeing him. -

Mon, January 31, 2005 - 5:18 PMI think Cat Stevens cameo was as a hippy hitch-hiker. There was a girl with him and I think it was in the scene where Maude is driving crazy and leaves the hitch-hikers stunned as she speeds past them.
