I ran outside to the car barefoot, I ran thru a section of grass that was overgrown and still wet with dew. By the time i finally made it to the car and back, my dew soaked feet were ornated with the fallen petals blowing down from all of the flowering fruit trees on our street. Somehow, in its simplicity, it surprised me, and made me very very happy!

Re: What was your Maude Moment this week?
Wed, April 14, 2004 - 6:33 PMthanks so much for reminding us that we should HAVE a Maude Moment! I've been so caught up in the negative dramas of life, as of late that I'd forgotten...
As of now I remember to L-I-V-E Live!! -

Thu, April 15, 2004 - 9:08 PMWhen but on tax day do I need to be reminded of this? I have some ducks that have taken to my yard, and I know I owe them some corn more than I owe California (past) or Uncle George anything. And I giggle. -

Re: What was your Maude Moment this week?
Tue, February 1, 2005 - 5:14 AMI met this girl a week ago and after a few volleys of conversation she asked, "Are you an engineer or something?" I said, "I 'am' not anything. I'm not willing to be defined by my job." She fumbled a bit but eventually we actually had a decent conversation.
Later I elaborated with her, saying that enumerating jobs listed on my resume wouldn't help her get to know me. Rather, we would have talked for a while about work-related things then ended up in an awkward silence where each of us was looking around the room for something more interesting.
I'll admit that my antagonistic behavior isn't becoming of Maude, but the result -- and that it matches the desired result -- is a testament to it being in the spirit of Maude: that we should really communicate with one another rather than lean heavily on safe topics that seemed to work in the past.

Re: What was your Maude Moment this week?
Sat, May 21, 2005 - 3:30 AMI was in my nightgown and drinking tea at 2pm last Monday, when I noticed that a pigeon had gotten stuck inside the kitchen. It was desperately trying to fly out the window but couldn't.. I caught it easily (I used to raise chickens when I was little) and held it for a moment. I walked outside and threw it into the air and watched it fly away thinking about how human hands had probably never touched that bird. -

Re: What was your Maude Moment this week?
Sat, May 21, 2005 - 5:00 AMI was standing outside of my job...a job I was going to lose due to downsizing...I was really depressed and thinking what the hell is going on? What will I do? Then I noticed the smallest , most beautiful set of teeny yellow flowers growing against a brick wall. Trying to survive behind a giant lily. I felt like those flowers and it made me smile. -

Re: What was your Maude Moment this week?
Mon, October 24, 2005 - 2:15 AMa friend of mine's birthday was today. I bumped into him with his roomie, planning to just go get drunk.
I got drunk with them (they'd never seen me drunk before), but took them to do it at the Albany Landfill, an east bay landmark dotted with gonzo art made of trash - which the birthday boy *loved*. -
