Just spotted this today when I was going through my copy of American Theatre magazine that the Paper Mill Playhouse in Milburn, NJ will be doing "Harold and Maude: The Musical" from Jan. 5th thru Feb. 13, 2005. Here's the link on the Theatre's site:

Re: Harold and Maude: The Musical!
Thu, October 14, 2004 - 1:18 AMwow. thats strange. a musical verson of harold and maude? i mean, the original was kind of a musical, with all of cat's music throughout it, but to make it an actual musical is something altogether different. should be interesting to see. i'm prone to thinking that anything harold and maude related is great. i just hope they don't make it cheesy. -

Thu, October 14, 2004 - 4:01 AMInteresting, indeed! It could go either way! And I hope it's not a failure but who knows? I can't see it as a musical.
I heard from a friend earlier this evening that he might be seeing (get this) a musical version of "The Picture of Dorian Gray"! I asked him to report in if and when he sees that!

Re: Harold and Maude: The Musical!
Fri, October 15, 2004 - 8:33 AMGood! Report back here and tell us how it is! Lots of inquiring minds want to know!!
I know, BTW, that H&M has been performed as a stage play in LA with Ellen Gere (Sunshine Dore) both producing and playing Maude. But I didn't hear that that was a musical so this may be something completely separate.
